Harton Regional Implements New Senior Health Plus, Program for Seniors

If you are 55 years of age or older, Harton Regional Medical Center has a free new program you’ll want to explore. Senior Health Plus promotes healthy living by providing information, resources and screenings to members. “Harton Regional Medical Center recognizes that our senior population is growing,” says Steven Bills, M.D., the hospital’s Chief of Staff-Elect. “So we’re taking steps to provide programs that will help them manage their health and be able to enjoy life for many years to come.” “At any age — but particularly for seniors — prevention and early detection are key to maintaining good health,” he adds. “Senior Health Plus gives information and access to screenings and other services that can help address health issues before they become problems.”
Benefits of becoming a Senior Health Plus member include the following:

  • Monthly educational “Lunch & Learn” seminars on topics relating to healthy aging
  •  Events offering free and discounted health tests such as blood pressure, cholesterol and cancer screenings
  •  Discounts of 10% off at the hospital’s cafeteria
  •  Assistance with insurance, Medicare and related issues from Harton Regional Medical Center financial counselors

“Harton Regional Medical Center has tremendous healthcare resources for seniors,” says Dr. Bills. “We have excellent cardiology services, including bypass surgery and complicated stents. Our neurosurgery department offers the full scope of services, including complicated spine surgery. With our hematology/ oncology department, almost all cancer treatment can be done locally. We also have excellent general surgery, orthopedics, pulmonary, infectious diseases and plastic surgery programs and a very stable, skilled nursing staff. While having new facilities is a plus, you can never supplant a good staff and good nurses.”
